Welcome to Craft & Canvas
the place where your creativity comes to life.
Craft & Canvas is an art studio for children and adults in Park Circle, North Charleston. We use the term 'art' to mean anything created with our own hands. While we do paint here at Craft & Canvas, it is not the only thing we do. We craft, create, draw, explore, recycle, re-purpose, and redesign. We create what fits our fancy at this moment in time. In the next moment, we might want to try something different.
The owner of Craft & Canvas is a teacher. Therefore the calendar matches a school calendar. On school holidays, the studio is open for special hours and/or events. Watch the calendar. We also host teacher only events because Stacey, the owner, is sympathetic to their cause.
Adults should refer to the class schedule to find a craft or painting that interests them. The classes will mostly be on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday but there will be some weekday night classes. Both adults and children are welcome during open craft/paint hours as noted on the calendar. During open craft/paint time, you can walk in at any time during those hours and make what you want. You can choose off the established list or come up with an idea of your own. Projects not already priced will be priced based on the materials used, time in studio, and the amount of assistance needed.
You can find descriptions of everything on the events page. Clicking "Register Now" gives you more information. You are not actually registering until you click it again.
Those involved in the Mini-Maker Art Workshop will be exposed to many different materials with which to create, including wood, paper, oil pastels, crayon, watercolor, tempera paint, clay. recycled materials, fabric, and more.
For those age 4- 6, the time will be focused on artistic expression, using the different mediums and exploring their properties through creative play. Those age 7-12 will do these things as well but will also be introduced to techniques like print making, collage, and stenciling. They will have opportunities to partake in various crafts such as paper-mache`, paper flowers and nature mobiles. Those age 13-15 can choose what they want to spend their time on.
The workshop runs in 5 week sessions. Each week, Monday through Friday for 2 hours each day, the studio will be accessible to those registered for the workshop according to their age group schedule. During any one session, the same exploration/project will be taking place each of the five days of one week. With a new week comes a new exploration/project. Therefore, if your 4 year old attends on Monday from 4 - 6pm and then comes back on Thursday of the same week, the explorations will be the same as those previously done. When they return the next week, the explorations will change. If they come for successive sessions, they will see repeated explorations with a small number of changes.
